What does Mattered? actually do?
Once a day it asks "how'd today go?" You answer with a single tap — you avoided some waste, reused something, had a quiet day, or slipped up. Each check-in shades a year-in-green grid that grows over time. That's the whole app: a few seconds a day, building a glanceable record of the days you showed up.
Is it really free? What's the catch?
It's genuinely free — no subscription, no unlock, no tip jar, no ads, and no in-app purchases. There is no catch. Mattered? is our way of making conscious living a little easier for everyone.
Do I need an account?
No. There's no account, no email, and no sign-in, ever. You open the app and start checking in.
Does Mattered? track me or send my data anywhere?
No. Nothing about you leaves your phone. The app's only network activity is downloading an anonymous weekly challenge and tips — content comes down, nothing about you goes up. There's no tracking, no analytics, and no ads.
What happens on a day I slip up or do nothing?
It still counts. A slipped-up day and a quiet day are first-class check-ins, with the same warmth as any other — no red, no shame, no "you failed" framing. Showing up is the whole point, and the grid measures consistency of attention, not a perfect record.
Do I have to use it for a full year before it's worth anything?
Not at all. Your grid is shareable and meaningful from day one — framed by whatever span exists, like your first week or first month. There are earlier milestones along the way, and a "season-in-green" view that feels complete long before a year.
I deleted the app. Can I get my check-ins back?
Mattered? stores everything locally on your device, so deleting the app removes its data. To protect your history, keep your iPhone backed up via iCloud or your Mac — that backs up Mattered? data automatically and restores it on a new device.
Does Mattered? work without internet?
Yes, completely. Every core feature works offline on content bundled inside the app. The weekly challenge and tips are a nice enhancement when you're online, never a requirement.
